David Linch dirige The Elephan Man, una storia vera e commovente candidata a 8 premi Oscar. John Merrick (John Hurt) è stato seriamente sfigurato alla nascita da una malattia rara. Il suo viso, vistosamente deturpato, mostra i lineamenti di un elefante. Intrappolato in una fiera di fenomeni da baraccone Merrick patisce il tormento di essere un reietto della società finché un giovane chirurgo chiamato Dr. Frederick Treves (Sir Anthony Hopkins) lo libera. La trama si scioglie nel momento in cui Treves scopre che sotto la mostruosa faccia di Merrick si nasconde un uomo gentile e pacifico. Col suo eccezionale cast e la sceneggiatura raffinata e commovente The Elephant Man dimostra di essere uno dei migliori film di David Linch. |
